Lynsie knew that all this talk of goblins and ghouls was just her parents
way of getting in the Halloween mood. She
wasn't going to worry one bit when she
was walking home from her friend Kara's house tonight. While she and Kara
worked on their costumes and decorations, they munched happily on popcorn
and drank apple cider. "Lynsie, called Kara's
mom, time to wrap it up and head
home". "Ok, I'm coming," Lynsie reluctantly replied. "Well, Kara, guess I'll
see you tomorrow for Trick or treating," she said as she bounded down the
steps to the front door. "Ok, bye, see ya", Kara yelled. Kara's dad
called to Lynsie, "Hey Lyns, do you want me to walk
you to your house?" Lynsie hesitated a moment and
said, "Ah, no, I'll be ok". "All right, see you
tomorrow then", Kara's dad called. Lynsie bundled up and headed down the
sidewalk to her house. "Gee, it sure is foggy tonight" Lynsie said aloud
to herself.
As she got houses away from her
house, she heard a strange noise."Oops, wonder what that was, I'm sure it was
just a dog howling." Lynsie started to get a little
spooked but decided that she, too, was just getting
caught up in all the Halloween magic. "Yeah, there's my house," she
giggled as she picked up her pace a bit. "Home
sweet home." As soon as she got to the front porch of
her house, she relaxed and thought, "see, no big deal."
As she reached for the doorknob, all of a sudden, a big green hand
reached out and grabbed her! "AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH, help
me, help me!!" At just that moment, her mom opened the
door and started to laugh out loud. Lynsie ran in
the house and screamed "Mom, a goblin grabbed me, help, the ghouls are on
their way!" When she calmed down a bit, she was staring at her mom, who
was still laughing. "WHAT'S SO FUNNY", Lynsie
demanded. "Oh, Lynsie, mom replied, look outside and
you'll see what's so funny." Just then, Lynsie's dad
came through the door with a funny look on his face. "Come here Angel,
what's the matter?" "Dad, a goblin grabbed me on the front porch and
tried to take me but I got away, please go get him!"
Dad said, "Calm down, and let's go have a look." "NO
WAY!", Lynsie said. Call the police!!" Dad said, "ok
honey, just stand here with me and I'll look out the window and
check.".
Just then he put his arm around her and Lynsie's eyes got as big as hard
boiled eggs. There was a big green hand on her shoulder..."HELP, the
goblins back daddy, help!!" Daddy started to
laugh and said to Lynsie, "Is this the goblin?" Right
then he handed Lynsie his big green fake hand and said
"Happy Halloween Lynsie!" Lynsie looked at her mom and
dad and took a deep
breath. "Well, I still don't believe in goblins
and ghouls, she said pouting. "Whatever you say dear,
her parents laughed as they shook their heads.
